A Perfectly Moral Man is Like the Character of Water - Chinese Bamboo Flute Orchestra's Ethnic Chamber Music Concert Successfully Staged at the NCPA
17:14 Dec 12 2018
The Chinese Bamboo Flute Orchestra's Ethnic Chamber Concert, led by renowned performer and composer Zhang Weiliang, was successfully staged on the evening of December 12 at the Concert Hall of the National Grand Theater.
Prof. Zhang Weiliang delivered a speech before the concert.
The eight pieces performed by the Chinese Bamboo Flute Orchestra in this concert are all commissioned composers' concerts and are world premieres.
The concert's repertoire includes traditional pieces adapted from ancient folk songs from various regions, combined with modern music elements and electronic music materials, while top European stage designers and sound masters from France and Italy were hired to participate in the concert's compilation and creation.
This concert is themed on the “water” of the five elements, which expresses the idea that “water is good for all things but does not contend with them, and it is in the path of all people that it is evil”. In Taoism, water is the best and the softest; it is dense, micro is silent, huge is turbulent; it does not compete with others and accommodates all things.
The Chinese Bamboo Flute Orchestra, starting with the concert “Goodness is like Water”, will continue to use the theme of the five elements of traditional Chinese culture as its musical interpretation, and invite today's first-class composers to write new works by way of a full-ministerial commission to continue to explore the diversity of expression of the Chinese national musical instrument (the bamboo flute)! We will continue to explore the diversity of the Chinese folk instrument (bamboo flute) by commissioning new works and inviting today's leading composers to write!
