The orchestra has received great support from the presidents of various art festivals and local embassies, and is the only group of Chinese musicians received by the local government. Famous composer Choi Kwon said, “The local audience was very interested in the music brought by the bamboo flute orchestra. For example, 'Joyful Encounter' and 'Yangguan Sanjie' were very distinctive. The specially arranged performance of the local folk song “Si Dukat” in the Albanian concert was one of the biggest highlights of the tour, which was well received by the audience and particularly surprised the local audience. Many of the local audience did not know Chinese music, but were extremely appreciative of the Chinese bamboo flute music and performance format.”
Conductor Hu Biao said in an interview: “The orchestra has performed many times in the classic Western architectural churches on this tour, and the performance in St. Sophia's Church in the Republic of Macedonia coincided with the church's ‘millennium’ from 1018 to 2018, where the sound of Chinese silk and bamboo was played for the first time, and the fusion and collision of Chinese folk music and classic Western churches demonstrated its unique charm. Before this, the European audience did not know much about Chinese ancient music, and many of them said that it was the first time for them to hear Chinese music. The orchestra brought Chinese traditional art to foreign countries through the cultural action of “One Belt, One Road”, and music has no borders, and the enthusiastic response from the audience can deeply feel that the European audience can understand Chinese music and appreciate Chinese music. Chai Shuai said in an interview: “The greatest charm of the Erhu and bamboo flute orchestra is the combination of tradition and modernity. As one of China's most representative traditional Chinese instruments, the erhu's performance of modernized compositions fully demonstrated Professor Zhang Weiliang's international vision. The audience's response to the orchestra's performance and their musical literacy was amazing, and they were very interested in Chinese music and culture. I was impressed by one audience member who said that it was the first time he heard the sound of China, and that the orchestra had brought Chinese music, but that it was in harmony with the spirit of the people of different countries.”
