Huang Lu, a young soprano singer and doctor of the China Conservatory of Music, brought a concert of traditional Chinese poems to the music-loving audience in Yancheng City on the evening of June 22nd at the Grand Theater of Yancheng City Culture and Art Center. Dr. Huang Lu, a young soprano singer from the China Conservatory of Music, was the soloist, Liu Xiaojiang, associate professor of the China Conservatory of Music, was the conductor, and Zhang Huan from the China Conservatory of Music was the artistic director of the concert, which was a fascinating presentation of a piece of music of Chinese poetry.
“Since its inception, the relationship between ancient poetry and music has been inextricably linked. When it comes to singing out ancient poems, people's first reaction is probably to use ancient tunes. But in the “Chinese Poetry Concert”, this inertia has been broken: young soprano Huang Lu, accompanied by the piano, interpreted for the audience a piece of stunning ancient style and charm.
The concert's repertoire renditions included three types of Chinese art songs, including classical poems and lyrics, modern art songs, and new songs with ancient lyrics. Among the songs, “Hairpin Phoenix” and “Bodhisattva Barbarian” were taken from the works of the same name by Chinese poets Lu You and Wen Tingyun. The audience was so applauded and enthusiastic after it was over that Dr. Huang Lu returned to the stage again to sing a song called “Sea Love”.
“Poetry and Lyrics Singing Classics, China is Popular”, in the form of poetry and song, makes traditional culture contemporary, establishes an organic connection between the spiritual wealth embedded in traditional culture and the pursuit of values in the new era, and makes the mainstream classics become the vanguard of popularity once again. Dr. Huang Lu and the creative team behind the project dig deep into the profound connotation behind the poems, tell cultural knowledge, explain humanistic values, interpret ideological concepts, trace the origin of modern civilization, establish cultural confidence, and allow the public to draw on the nutrients of China's excellent traditional culture from a more youthful expression of language.
This concert has both the taste of poetry and song, and the quality of culture, but also a commitment, not only carrying the social mission of spreading culture and exploring the truth, but also contains the historical responsibility of upholding the spiritual high ground and cultivating spiritual civilization, as well as the cultural responsibility of going to the ordinary people's homes.
